Jennifer currently dances & choreographs locally with An Opera Theater (AOT) and Christopher Watson Dance Company, plus this spring/summer 2021 is dancing for Helen Hatch/Berit Algren’s The Shed and Jennifer Huper Isle/Offleash Area’s Muller Dierum. She is the Ballet Program Director and Ballet/Contemporary Instructor at Danceworks Performing Arts Center, and also teaches at St. Paul Ballet. She was recently awarded a Cowles Center Generating Room Residency (2020), choreographed MN Opera’s Flight ( Jan/Feb 2020) presented at the Ordway and AOT’s Rape of Lucretia that originally was supposed to open at the Southern Theater March 2020 . She’s also certified in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) and done training in Alexandra, Freldenkrais, Gyrotonic, Pilates and Yoga.
Her 20+ year career in dance includes receiving several notable roles, awards & grants for her work as a dancer/performer, choreographer, instructor and adjudicator internationally in dance, theater, opera, music, film, and commercially with numerous companies, competitions, festivals, schools, studios and universities. She graduated from the University of WI-Stevens Point (Magna Cum Laude) with a BFA in Dance Performance, Choreography & Pedagogy where she received a Bukolt Scholarship; plus B.S. degrees in Arts Administration, International Business w/ minors in Art, Music and Biology. She also has trained with Alonzo Lines Ballet, BDC, Ballet Arts, Colorado Ballet, Cunningham School, Pittsburgh & Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Peridance, Janet Lang Dance Studio, Milwaukee Ballet (twice on merit scholarship), ODC, Robert Moses Kin, Rochester Ballet School, Steps, Traffo, Trisha Brown and Zenon.
She resides in North Minneapolis with her fiancé and 7-year old daughter who greatly inspire her. She believes dance and the arts can be very transforming and a powerful tool on many levels for people and communities to participate in and enjoys watching where it takes those who do. She’s also most interested in bringing out the connections or intersections of art forms and people while pushing the boundaries of all these things simultaneously as well.
