Memories, both recent and past, constantly flow through my mind. How I can transfer those ideas to my work challenges me everyday in my studio. I look to the themes of community (past and present), nature, childhood memories, and current events to help inform my ideas. Those themes are explored both abstractly and realistically depending on my current project. I enjoy seeing the relationships of colors, textures and layers interact with each other as I build these visual stories. I work mainly on paper using the different printmaking methods along with painting and drawing.
When I am not working on my own art, I also teach art in Minneapolis Public Schools. Outside of that, you can find me spending time with my 2 kids and wife, watching sports (both professional and my children’s) and trying to walk my energy filled dog.
