I grew up in Winona, MN and was always inspired by the natural beauty of the Mississippi river. We played on the bluffs and went swimming in the backwaters. My Grandma took me to some of her painting classes when I was young and I became involved in all kinds of things art related. I went to St Olaf college and more recently was able to complete the Mastery program through the Milan Art Insitute.
I really enjoy the freedom of using mixed medium during my art making process. I usually start every painting in acrylic or spray paint and finish the painting in oil paint. I use a program called pixelmator to create a source to work from. I always have a plan going into the process. I am drawn to painting figures and animals in a narative way. I like to leave the story open ended and hear what other people see in it and how it interacts with them. I find a lot of joy in connecting with people through art and is the driving force behind why I do it. It is always extremely fun to throw paint on a canvas.
