Emily Wick

I am a tapestry weaver and weaving teacher living in Grand Marais, Minnesota, on Lake Superior’s North Shore. I weave intricate tapestries, home goods, and jewelry using frame looms and natural fibers. I have shown my work at art galleries in Grand Marais and Duluth, local small businesses, and juried art fairs. 

I work to translate the wild landscapes of northern Minnesota into the language of tapestry. Often weaving images from nature, my weaving explores the challenge of creating curved lines and color gradients within the confines of the grid created by the warp and weft on the loom. From abstract images to life-like landscapes, I use natural materials and rich colors to create dynamic, one-of-a-kind woven artworks inspired by the natural world.
