A Creative Director following his heart and soul, it just took a few years and a two-by-four to hit me across the head to do so. The signs were all around me for so long and then I finally made the leap of faith with the support of my lovely wife. Now as a “Maker” I am the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life.

Artist Statement:

David Baer, custom fabricator/maker. The juxtaposition of the warmth and organic shapes of live edge wood to the cold, hard lines of steel blend into functional works of art. My work creates a connection between these two diverse elements.

I blend live edge wood, metal and reclaimed materials into custom modern industrial style furniture, lighting, home accessories, sculpture and home interior and exterior products.

In my work, I want to see some evidence of it being handcrafted. I feel this gives the piece an identity and keeps it from appearing impersonal and machine-made.

My designs are determined by the unique character of the materials and the construction process. I have a fluidity in my design process which allows me to explore options and work with the materials as the piece is being transformed into its final form.
