My work focuses on the color, texture, and character of the natural materials that are my inspiration. My paintings are mixed media on carved wood contrasted by areas of shattered glass and other assemblage. My jewelry combines Lake Superior beach stones with a variety of beads into one-of-a-kind necklaces.
In all of my art, the ordinary and the broken are transformed into the lustrous new – a visual reminder of the unseen beauty and light that shines through all of creation.

Combining simple natural objects with the beauty and shine of Chinese Joss paper and the richness of color brings a sense of value and preciousness back to even these lowliest discards.
The simple surface of a stone is mirrored, and glorified, in the richness of paint and carved wood, creating a metaphor for the brightness that shines through us all.
Single board pieces, carved to follow the knots and flaws in the lumber are the foundation for these mixed media paintings that explore the beauty lurking in even the roughest of materials.
Pieces and shards of wood are worked together and combined with the spark of shattered glass to create a series exploring the many and various qualities of light.
Panels are pieced together out of reclaimed wood, carved and painted, then inlaid with the sparkle of shattered glass in a body of work that elevates these rough and magnificent materials to reveal the unseen beauty inherent in them.
More precious to me than gemstones, beach stones smoothed by the waves of Lake Superior are the inspiration behind my jewelry. The stones are drilled, grooved, carved and polished, then beaded into one of a kind statement necklaces.
