As an artist, I create both functional and sculptural ceramic vessels. I’m greatly inspired by nature, and love a form that feels good to hold. My time spent in Southeast Asia continues to inspire many of my functional forms, and Grecian antiquities inspire many of my sculptural works. I work with a stoneware/ porcelain blend, and fire to cone 6 in an electric kiln. A combination of both wheel throwing and hand building are used to create my pieces. Transfer decals, mono prints, and carving are often used in my work as a way to further enhance the decorative aspects of my curvaceous forms. I enjoy playing with gold lusters and glazes, the natural color of my clay, as well as the occasional pop of green to brighten up my overall palette.
