I am a Minneapolis-based artist focused on paintings of urban interiors, urban landscapes, and natural subjects in oil. I have been working on a series of coffee shops and cafes from both Minnesota and internationally since 2012, which can be seen in my images. More recently, I have started to explore specific working spaces and lesser known or hidden spaces that create the cities where we live. One example is my paintings of the Mercury Mosaic handmade tile factory located near my studio in Northeast Minneapolis. These can also be viewed in my images.
I learned how to paint in high school and am self-taught since graduation. In college I studied Literature and Creative Writing, and I feel there is a strong narrative quality to my paintings that captures the mood or feeling of a place, and the story of interaction between characters. I open my studio in the Casket Arts Building regularly and also participate in art fairs and exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
