Volunteer at one of the most anticipated art events in the Twin Cities!

NEMAA is looking for volunteers to assist during Art-A-Whirl, which will take place in Northeast Minneapolis May 17-19, 2013. Volunteering is a fun way to participate in this beloved event!

Please view open shifts here. (Cells highlighted in yellow still need volunteers). Full position descriptions are listed below. Additional shifts are also available for the Art-A-Whirl passport project, read below for more information.

We will email you a volunteer packet, please make sure to review prior to arriving for your shift. Volunteers will receive a free Art-A-Whirl t-shirt either at the orientation (dates listed at the bottom of this page), or upon arriving to their shift.

 

Silent Auction - art drop off (2 volunteers per shift)

Assist artists with artwork drop off procedures for NEMAA’s Art-A-Whirl Silent Auction.

Silent Auction Installation

Assist in hanging and lighting artwork for the Art-A-Whirl Silent Auction. Artwork installation/hanging experience required.

NEMAA Member Preview Party (2+ Volunteers needed for each shift)

Assist with selling raffle tickets during the party, monitoring the silent auction, answering questions, passing hors d’oeuvres, and more.

Art-A-Whirl Silent Auction (2-3 volunteers per shift)

Staff a table at the third floor gallery of the Northrup King Building (#332), where the NEMAA silent auction runs all weekend long. Assist with selling raffle tickets, monitoring the silent auction, answering questions, and more.

Silent Auction - art pick up

Assist NEMAA staff as winning bidders pick up art and items purchased at the silent auction.

Visitor Information Booths (2-3 volunteers per shift at each booth)

Staff one of two information booths, located near parking lots and trolley stops. Volunteers will distribute the Artist Directory & Guide, answer questions about the event. Volunteers and are welcome to work more than one shift.

Trolley Guide (2 volunteers per shift, 1 volunteer per trolley)

Ride along on the trolley, let riders know of upcoming stops, provide information and assistance to Art-A-Whirl attendees.

Directory Distribution

Help us distribute the annual Artist Directory & Guide, an important resource for arts and culture enthusiasts, and a guide to Art-A-Whirl. Distribute during your free time in your neighborhood, frequently visited places, or ask us for a distribution list with locations. 


Passport Crowd Count Volunteer Shifts
NEMAA is also looking for Passport Crowd Count volunteers to assist during Art-A-Whirl, by distributing Art-A-Whirl Passports. Helping as a Passport volunteer is a very fun, simple, yet essential task to assist the NEMAA team gather quantitative data which measures the impact of the event and contributes to future funding efforts. This is a great opportunity for small groups!
